  BiciQ is one of the best things about Quito. It's totally free, and takes only about 20 minutes to get an ID, even if you're just visiting for a week. There's an office in La Mariscal that you can go to with any ID or passport that you have. There's bike lanes that run from Quicentro all the way to Centro Historico, but be careful because the path after El Ejido is very steep. I've never had a single problem using BIciQ or at the stations. The 1-hour time limit gives you enough time to go anywhere!
