  We were in Cuenca for over a month, and wanted to take a cooking class. We Googled for cooking classes and found Warmikuna. We signed up, and it turns out they offer cooking classes as well as having a restaurant! The chef/owner Catalina and her assistant Camila are warm and wonderful. She was willing to teach us in either Spanish or English. We opted for Spanish, and it was fine – she was able to explain anything in English that we didn’t quite understand. We had some choices as to the menu that we would be learning how to prepare, and we chose soup, shrimp, and tamales. It was a lot of fun learning how to make a traditional Ecuadorian soup, as well as preparing all of the extraordinary flavors that went into the sautéed shrimp. The most interesting part, though, was learning how to make the tamal, which is similar to the Mexican tamale, but is more sweet than savory, using flour instead of cornmeal. They were steamed in banana leaves, which we also learned how to prep. After learning and “doing” for two hours, we were elegantly served our creations in their homey dining room. This was the best hands-on experience we had during our long stay in the gorgeous city of Cuenca. We highly recommend taking a class at Warmikuna, or just eating there, if you are interested in authentic Ecuadorian cuisine.

  **BEST COOKING CLASS** I just completed 4 cooking classes with Chef Caty and Cami from Warmikuna cocina taller and I can only recommend it to you. The price is very correct, 30$ for 2h and they never look at the time, I often left way after the supposed time. Caty is an incredible chef, and made me discover many recipes from Ecuador and excellent technics that I will use in my everyday cooking. I always complete a cooking class in the countries where I travel, and this one is by far the best I've had in my life. I couldn't stop coming back for more of her classes... It's also a restaurant, so you can first try the quality of their dishes by eating there! You won't be disapointed 🙂

  By far the slowest delivery service. So much so that you have to order 2 and half hours prior. They send me the menu via WhatsApp at 11:02 I placed the order at 11:17 but the order was delivered at 1:39!!!??? Are you kidding me! I wrote to them via WhatsApp: Terrible delivery service. Appalling! I had given them 5 stars but I changed it and I will never again recommend your restaurant. 2 and a half hours to deliver is absurd. Their reply: What a shame not being able to serve you on another occasion, I was satisfied that you liked the food, the delivery is out of hand. Mi reply: Since excuses were invented, everyone looks good. Unfortunately for you ... you all delivered yourself. To topped it off, you didn't apologize. Right, you won't have another chance because good food can be found all over Cuenca. But the other restaurants provide good service.

  Best Ecuadorian food I've had. Such good food and good people. Also, a great place for coffee drinks and a bit of dessert.
