  This hotel has SO much potential, but unfortunately does not live up to it. Some of the rooms are huge, but seem to have been last renovated in the 90s. Soap, etc in the bathroom leave much to be desired. And even the reception and entrance are quite dated. I will say though that the location could not be better. Right at the bottom of Las Penas and at the end of the Malecón - the highlight of Guyaqil.

  This is a mansion converted to a hotel. The property is beautiful if your into old skool Victorian style decor. The service is 5 stars. The location is prime..and super safe. The only negative is having to walk up them stairs...but staying here will make you fee like royalty

  Beautiful pictures. a lot of dust a lot of stairs... No parking.

  It's a very cool old building, BUT... They don't have a reliable way of opening the front gate, meaning you might spend several minutes waiting to be let in or out of the hotel—not sure what happens if there's a fire; they don't place a very high value on quiet time at night, blasting loud music for bar/restaurant guests until midnight; the hot water in our shower came only in 30 second increments. Aside from the historic building and river views, other hostels or hotels will be a much better experience.
