  This was a pleasant place to stay in the historic district and is not far from some pretty parts of old Quito. The rooms and bathrooms were larger than I expected. The cafe in the hotel also had some good, affordable food. The staff was helpful as well. The decor in the building with the painted walls was fun. The only downside is that we had a rental car and picked this hotel because it was one of the few in Quito that listed parking as an amenity. However, they don't have hotel parking. There is a separate paid parking structure around the block, so we had a place to park for extra cost, but then had to walk our bags quite a way to get into the building (it's awkward pulling luggage up a steep, big city street at night). But we enjoyed our stay once we got into the building.

  Hotel Masaya is a nice and stylish place to stay in the centre of Quito. The Staff was very friendly and helpful, our room was big, delicious food - breakfast and dinner. Just the hallways could be cleaned more often... The hotel is located in the centre, close to all churches and main sightseeings, but unfortunately it's not save to walk there for tourists as many local people told us. We hired a city tour guide, probably the best way how to see the sightseeings and not be robbed.

  Very nice hostal with hang out area and great breakfast. If you reservate breakfast on the day before you get it one dollar less. The hostal is in the historic center and you can do nearly everything by walking distance. Good spot to explore Quito by foot. Hosts are very helpful and can speak English.

  My company Galapagos Connoisseur, has a fun cooking class here at Masaya. I love the hotel, Ive stayed there back when it was called Solera House. Beautiful colonial house with awesome terraces and open spaces. Love this hostel.

  We stayed in the deluxe room at Masaya about 2 weeks ago and it was awesome! Very pretty, cozy. I love the design of everything inside the hostel. The shuttle service from the airport and back costs money and is very convenient. The front staff is nice and printed some papers for us. They do lock the front door and buzz you in, so I found that safe. I am told don't go down the left side of the entrance towards the angel statue, that is a bad area and I am told there is a high probability of getting robbed down there. We had no problem walking towards the Basilica cathedral on the right and felt very safe. Many locals stopped us to not have our phones out in public, especially at the hostel corner, so we adopted keeping our phones away when approaching the hostel. The food in the hostel restaurant was very good and they were able to make something vegan for someone we were with. Overall this was a great experience. 👍
