  Almuerzo with variety. Tried lunch here; nice ambiance on the first floor of a multi-purpose building (there is a hotel, I think). Offerings range from the basic almuerzo (around $3.00), a midrange choice ($4.99), and on to the fancy and probably overblown $9.99 proposition (why not go a-la-carte for that price?). We tried the midrange lunch. For five bucks each we got a good tasting vegetable soup, and a choice of entrees among which we picked chicken and pork. The entrees comprised a larger than usual (for an almuerzo; still smallish in general terms) serving of meat, roasted potatoes and boiled mixed non-starchy vegetables: note the absence of rice! Dessert was a tasty fried dumpling with syrup. Altogether a good variation on a local classic; the midrange choice with no rice allowed us, for once, to leave happier plates behind.
